Renata Bonczar was born in 1953. Since her birth she has lived and worked in Katowice. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Katowice. She studied in the studios of Prof. Adam Hoffmann, Prof. Andrzej Pietsch and Prof. Jerzy Duda Gracz. She received her diploma in 1980. In 2004, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, she received a doctorate in art. She works in painting, drawing and design, and is a university lecturer. For her creative work, she received an art scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art and an Art Award from the Silesian Governor. Renata Bonczar is a multiple winner of the most important painting competitions in Poland. She has presented her paintings and drawings in more than two hundred group exhibitions in Poland and around the world, including the United States, the former Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany and France. She is a member of the Association of Polish Artists in Katowice, the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow, the Polart Creative Association in Krakow, and the Association of Polish Pastelists. Until 2013, she has presented more than seventy individual exhibitions, including: at the Silesian Museum in Katowice, the Museum of History of Katowice, T.P.S.P., the Palace of Art in Krakow, the Pomeranian Bookstore in Szczecin, the Castle of Pomeranian Dukes in Szczecin, the Silesian Library in Katowice, the Museum of Lubuskie Land, Zielona Gora, the Museum of Sopot. The artist's works are in many private and public collections, including: the National Museum in Krakow, the Museum of History of Katowice, the Silesian Museum, Książnica Pomorska in Szczecin, the Center for Contemporary Art in Cuenca (Spain), the City Hall of Segovia (Spain), the City Hall of Gargaliani (Greece), TPST Palace of Art in Krakow, the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, the City Hall of Mikołów, ING Bank Slaski in Katowice, Radio Katowice. In 2021, the artist at the 13th Florence Biennale received the Biennale President's Medal for her work .
